We’re here to help dads and moms pick out baby gear for their little ones. The trust that our readers have in us is what keeps us is what keeps us is business. We therefore prioritize our readers’ trust above everything else.

These editorial guidelines explain how we, the editorial team behind Dad’s Picks, keep ourselves accountable.

1. How We Pick Products

Product picks are in our name, and we take them seriously.

We’re frank about how we source the products we write about. If an author purchased a product with their own money before reviewing it, we will make that clear. If a brand sent the author a product to review for free, we will also make that clear.

To keep Dad’s Picks running, we partner with brands and retailers and get unique links, which allow us to receive a commission for each purchase made through those links. However, we disregard the business side of things — say, the revenue potential of a given relationship or individual product — when reviewing and recommending products.

We’re committed to our mission to help moms and dads pick out the best baby gear, and the best baby gear only. So when producing reviews and buying guides, the evaluation criteria that we take into account are the fitness for purpose and fitness for use of the products being mentioned. We go to great lengths to make these criteria easy to understand.

2. How We Check Facts

We go through reasonable measures to check all facts before reporting them so that, to the best of our knowledge, they are accurate at the time of publishing.

Sometimes, this means sifting through the specifications and manuals of the products we write about. In such cases, we will use clear language (for instance, “according to the manufacturer,” or “the manufacturer claims that”) to be transparent about how those facts were sourced.

Other times, it means testing a product firsthand and with specialized equipment:

The last thing you want is for an appliance to wake your baby while they’re sleeping. We use a sound meter to measure the background noise generated by the baby-care appliances that we review.

For example, when reviewing two of the best baby bottle washers — the Momcozy KleanPal Pro and the Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro — we used a decibel meter to measure the amount of noise that those appliances generated. We conducted those measurements in a quiet room, early in the morning, to ensure that no background noise skewed the results.

3. How We Make Corrections

Even with fact-checking, we can still make factual errors. If a reader or manufacturer contacts us to request a correction, we will look into that request and address it promptly.

We will only correct facts if we can confirm, with a reasonable degree of certainty, that our original reporting was incorrect or incomplete. In such a case, we will add a note at the end of the corrected piece to inform readers about the correction.
